Marco Tolotti (Brescia, 1981) Si avvicina alla batteria all’età di quattordici anni da autodidatta suonando in diverse band Bresciane di stampo “punk”, “crossover” e “hard rock”,

Successivamente intraprende un percorso didattico con il batterista e amico Beppe Facchetti che lo introduce a nuovi ascolti e nuovi generi musicali. Contemporaneamente alle lezioni affianca la “militanza” in band dallo stampo “funk”, “pop” e “soul”. Trasferisce i suoi studi a Milano diplomandosi all’”Accademia Del Suono” sotto la guida del Maestro Maxx Furian, da qui la scoperta del “jazz”, genere di cui Marco si innamora e alla quale dedica gran parte del suo “drumming” futuro.

A tutt’oggi è un batterista che vanta molte collaborazioni con nomi altisonanti all’interno del panorama jazzistico internazionale e nazionale: Sonny Fortune, Sheila Jordan, Paolo Fresu, Kevin Mahogany, Philip Harper, Dino Piana, Franco Cerri, Albert Hera, Aldo Zunino, Massimo Faraò, Fulvio Albano, Claudio Chiara, Terrell Stafford, Luciano Milanese, Sandro Gibellini, Alberto Marsico, Curtis Lundy, Lee Smith, Steve Nelson, Chico Freeman, Valery Ponomarev, Denise king, Michelle Hendrix, Kirk McDonald, Sandy Patton, Ed Cherry, Jerry Weldon, ecc.

Ha lavorato durante gli anni con orchestre dal grande organico come la JCT Big Band, la Torino jazz Orchestra del Tenorista Torinese Fulvio Albano, La Filarmonica del Teatro Regio di Torino diretta dal Maestro Stefano Fonzi e the “Our Father Who Was Art Blakey” big band ideata da Valery Ponomarev (New York USA) trombettista del grande  Art Blakey durante  gli anni settanta.

Come “session man” invece ha all’attivo circa 20 dischi registrati con il massimo Faraò trio, tra i quali sei per la famosa etichetta Venus in esclusiva per il mercato Giapponese.

Marco compare inoltre un disco a nome della cantante Denise King (Philadelphia USA) edito dalla Torinese Riverside Studio e in un lavoro discografico, ideato e arrangiato dai maestri Angelo Peli e Roberto soggetti, atto a celebrare la musica di Erik Satie intitolato “Insensatie”

Ha avuto la fortuna di studiare con delle leggende della batteria a livello mondiale quali Jimmy Cobb, Louis Hayes, Byron Landham, Joseph Farnsworth, Mike Baker, Steve Williams…Ha inoltre esteso il suo “drumming” ad altri generi quali Rock, Hard Rock, Funk, Pop, R&B, Reggae ecc. sotto la guida di maestri indiscussi su suolo nazionale quali Maxx Furian, Christian Meyer, Stefano Bagnoli e Alfredo Golino.

E’ inoltre un appassionato docente, ha insegnato durante gli anni, al fianco del grandissimo batterista Maxx Furian in accademie di musica moderna di prestigio come la “NAM” e “L’Accademia Del Suono”, entrambe famose istituzioni Milanesi.

Marco ha inoltre  performato come sideman “guest entertainer” per tre anni a bordo delle prestigiosissime “Navi Oasis Class” della compagnia “Royal Caribbean”, le navi più grandi esistenti,  famose per essere le migliori nel campo dell’ “entertainment” in quell’industria.

A tutt’oggi tiene lezioni private a Concesio (BS Italy) e nel tempo rimanente si esibisce con artisti nazionali ed internazionali.

Biography

Marco Tolotti (Brescia, Italy 1981) taught himself to play the drums at the age of fourteen. He immediately started to play in several “punk”, “crossover” and “hard rock” bands in his town.

Later on, he realized he needed formal drum lessons to progress even further in his career and he joined a drum course with Beppe Facchetti. Marco was introduced to new musical genres and together with the lessons, he started to play with several “funk”, “pop” and “soul” groups.

After 4 years, he decided to attend a musical academy in Milan. He graduated under the guidance of the Maestro Maxx Furian that introduced him to “jazz” music. Marco fell in love with this genre and tried to dig deeper and deeper into that style since then.

To date, he boasts collaboration with international renowned jazz artists such as Sonny Fortune, Sheila Jordan, Paolo Fresu, Kevin Mahogany, Philip Harper, Dino Piana, Franco Cerri, Albert Hera, Aldo Zunino, Massimo Faraò, Fulvio Albano, Claudio Chiara, Terrell Stafford, Luciano Milanese, Sandro Gibellini, Alberto Marsico, Curtis Lundy, Lee Smith, Steve Nelson, Chico Freeman, Valery Ponomarev, Denise king, Michelle Hendrix, Roberto Soggetti, Angelo Peli, Gianni Coscia, Michelle Hendrix, Kirk McDonald, Sandy Patton, Ed Cherry, Jerry Weldon, etc.

He worked also with large ensembles such as the JCT big band, “Torino jazz orchestra” leaded by Fulvio Abano, La Filarmonica del Teatro Regio di Torino conducted by Stefano Fonzi, Our father who was Art Blakey” (New York based big band)leaded by Art Blakey’s trumpeter Valery Ponomarev.

As a studio drummer, Marco recorded more than 20 studio albums with the “Massimo Faraò trio”, 6 of them for “Venus”, the famous Japanese jazz label.

He appears also on an album recorded by Denise King for the “Riverside studio” label and another studio album by the name of “InsenSatie” conceived and arranged by Angelo Peli and Roberto Soggetti that celebrates the music of Erik Satie.

He studied jazz percussion with many legends of this genre: Jimmy Cobb, Louis Hayes, Byron Landham, Joseph Farnsworth, Mike Baker, Steve Williams. He also extended his drumming boundaries to other styles of music like pop, funk, rock, soul etc. under the guidance of Italian based master drummers such as Maxx Furian, Alfredo Golino, Christian Mayer, and Stefano Bagnoli.

Marco is also a very passionate educator, he taught during the years, side by side with his mentor and great drummer, Maxx Furian, in prestigious musical academies such as  “Accademia del suono” and “NAM”, both famous modern music schools in Milan.

He also served as a sideman and played as a “guest entertainer” for three years on the renowned “Oasis class”, owned by the “Royal Caribbean” company – the most prestigious & largest cruise ships in the world known for the most elite entertainment in the industry.

Presently, he teaches private lessons in Concesio (BS Italy), his hometown to pass on his passion for drums to aspiring students. In his remaining time, he enjoys playing on tours with national and international artists.
